But putting aside my story (which naturally enough I think is pretty darn good), there's a lot to like here--starting with the stylish, classy and sexy cover art. Professor Elemental's foreword is a sarcastically amusing piece of reverse psychology. Editor Nicole Gestalt's introduction is straightforward and succinct. The stories? Well, there are 9 of them and all fit well into the blended genres of steampunk Sci-Fi and erotica. Yet they're quite varied as to style, location and point of view. "The Waiting Future" by Crysta K. Coburn takes place in rural Japan, where steam-powered modernization is also causing major social change. J.T. Seale takes us down to a steamy New Orleans to experience the latest in mechanical sex toys. Nikko Lee's tale expands the genre beyond Earth, with improbable but fascinating coal-fueled spacecraft, including one run by the lustfully capable Captain Beckett. A writer who goes by the initials V.C. contributes an especially raunchy story of pansexual lust, while Regina Kammer's focus is on the joys of sensual spanking as performed by one of the amazingly intricate devices steampunk literature so frequently celebrates. Other tales find authors and their characters exploring the air and sea, along with a good variety of sexual possibilities.
